About Our Client

Our client is a leading electric utility company serving millions of customers across a major metropolitan area. As a forward‑thinking organization committed to grid modernization and innovation, they are investing heavily in private telecom cloud technologies and next‑generation network infrastructure to support critical smart grid operations. The company operates in a highly regulated environment where reliability, security, and cutting‑edge technology converge to deliver essential services.

Their mission centers on operational excellence, infrastructure resilience, and leveraging advanced telecommunications solutions to meet the evolving demands of modern energy distribution and grid management.

Job Description

As an Evolved Packet Core Engineer, you’ll serve as a solution architect responsible for the design, testing, and delivery of private telecom cloud technologies that power critical utility infrastructure. Your day‑to‑day will involve developing end‑to‑end LTE and 5G core network solutions, creating comprehensive design documentation (HLD/LLD), and working collaboratively with cybersecurity, smart grid, and distributed generation teams to ensure all network implementations align with enterprise architecture strategies.

You’ll be the technical expert driving the deployment of private LTE core solutions for a major utility company, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable telecommunications infrastructure that supports mission‑critical grid operations.

This role exists to architect and implement next‑generation private telecom networks that enable smart grid capabilities, remote device management, and real‑time operational communications. You’ll be responsible for solution design spanning planning, requirements definition, detailed engineering, subscriber and SIM management, and network management systems. The ideal candidate has a proven track record delivering LTE/5G core solutions for US‑based regional carriers or utilities, understands the complexities of private wireless networks, and thrives in environments where telecommunications expertise meets critical infrastructure requirements.

You’ll collaborate extensively with cybersecurity teams, distributed generation management, smart grid capabilities teams, IP planning engineers, vendors, and the Architecture Review Board, serving as the subject‑matter expert who ensures network solutions are technically sound, secure, and aligned with organizational goals.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and document comprehensive High‑Level Design (HLD) and Low‑Level Design (LLD) for core network components, including completing detailed Customer Information Questionnaires (CIQ) for network elements and creating detailed network diagrams.
  • Facilitate communication on configuration changes needed in the organization’s infrastructure to support low‑level design implementations and ensure smooth network deployments.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, Distributed Generation Management (DGM), and Smart Grid capabilities teams to align all telecommunications projects with enterprise architecture strategies and guidelines.
  • Participate in Architecture Review Board (ARB) meetings, providing technical input and approval recommendations for projects, procedures, and policies related to core network infrastructure.
  • Actively engage in security vulnerability assessments for network elements and provide recommended mitigations, corrective actions, and security hardening strategies.
  • Participate in vendor and product selection processes for various Digital Grid & Communications initiatives, evaluating solutions against technical and business requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive Acceptance Test Plans (ATP) and test specifications based on requirements and use cases, and lead solution testing activities including end‑to‑end test plan development and execution.
  • Provide expert technical support in resolving complex core network issues by performing root cause analysis and developing effective corrective solutions…
