Overview
WSP is searching for a Plumbing Engineer to join our Property & Buildings – Building Systems group in Dallas, TX. The role supports the planning, design, and delivery of complex healthcare facilities including hospitals, outpatient clinics, medical office buildings, and specialized treatment spaces.
Responsibilities- Assist in design and documentation of plumbing systems for healthcare facilities, including domestic water, sanitary, storm, specialty waste, and medical gas systems.
- Perform engineering calculations, system sizing, and equipment selection under senior engineer guidance.
- Develop plumbing layouts, schematics, and construction documents in coordination with mechanical, electrical, fire protection, architectural, and structural disciplines.
- Support healthcare-specific design considerations such as infection control, redundancy, code compliance, and reliability of critical systems.
- Participate in quality control reviews to ensure design accuracy, constructability, and adherence to WSP standards and healthcare codes.
- Assist with construction administration activities, including submittal reviews, RFIs, and site visits.
- Prepare technical documentation, calculations, and reports to support project deliverables.
- Collaborate with project teams to meet client schedules, budgets, and performance expectations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- 3–5 years of post‑graduate experience in plumbing or building systems design.
- Working knowledge of plumbing design principles, codes, and standards (IPC, UPC, NFPA, local AHJ requirements).
- Experience supporting projects within the healthcare, laboratory, or institutional building sectors.
- Proficiency with industry‑standard design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented consulting environment.
- Exposure to healthcare plumbing and medical gas systems.
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification or progress toward professional licensure.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations and guidelines (FGI, ASHRAE healthcare applications, NFPA 99).
- Experience working on projects from design through construction.

CompensationExpected salary: $85,200‑$121,770. WSP reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range based on experience, education, skills, and the specific geographic location.
