Job Summary

Supporting our existing data centers, the Senior Mechanical Engineer performs the planning, system design, system implementation and support of our data center HVAC systems. Leads small to medium scale HVAC projects and the roll out of mechanical HVAC engineering initiatives. Assists with development and implementation of mechanical HVAC engineering design standards, policies and procedures. Effectively interacts with other internal and external teams, including the design engineering, site engineering, project management, site and regional operations teams, onsite support vendors and consultants on projects, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities Project Management
  • Leads and manages HVAC projects or other design and engineering initiatives
  • Provides guidance and project leadership in ensuring project or other design and engineering initiatives are meeting or exceeding company expectations
System Operation and Work Practices (including Capacity Planning)
  • Expert operating knowledge of critical facilities HVAC engineering systems including advanced diagnostics and repairs
  • Interacts with other engineering, design and construction disciplines
  • Works with the capacity and site engineering teams to resolve power and/or cooling limitations and optimize resource utilization
Leadership and Communications (including Vendor Management)
  • Contributes to mentoring junior team members
  • Directs all internal and external project team members
  • Directs external vendors per project or initiative such as general contractors, A&E design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers, etc.
  • Expert level communication including cross-functional SOP development and relevant technical writing
  • Interactions are primarily to exchange information between departments within the organization
  • Includes executive level communications in standardized templates
Policy & Procedure Development and Adherence
  • Contributes to creating and maintaining best in class policies and procedures
  • Participates in review of policy and procedure documents
  • Develops policy documents with the input of others
  • Assures adherence to developed standards and policy through review of documentation, participation in commissioning activities, design summits and data center physicals
Problem Solving
  • Consistently solves complex, cross-functional issues requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve
Qualifications
  • Typically 7+ Years of related experience in a data center or other critical facility environment
  • Knowledge of data center HVAC mechanical engineering design
  • Efficiency and data modeling
  • Experience developing and managing projects with internal and external stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus
