Job Description & How to Apply Below
- Premier provider of structural warranties, partnering with builders nationwide
- Mix of field work and desk work - you’ll apply your expertise across field inspections, complex claims, and high-level underwriting strategy.
- You will directly help shape underwriting guidelines and risk management processes to drive the company’s evolution.
- You have the freedom to operate independently in a remote environment and make critical judgment calls.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering, construction, and insurance—offering a high-impact opportunity to influence real-world outcomes with strong visibility, autonomy, and ownership.
Ideal for an engineer who enjoys the “detective work” of forensic inspections, you’ll analyze failures, identify root causes, and turn findings into actionable insights that support claims and prevent future losses.
You’ll work directly with key stakeholders, giving you a true seat at the table—where your expertise drives decisions and makes a measurable impact.
What You’ll Actually Do:- Conduct Site Inspections for structural defects and failures, evaluating the root cause (design, workmanship, or materials).
- Develop and Review Repair Plans and engineering solutions to resolve structural issues effectively.
- Guide Underwriting Strategy by identifying defect trends and recommending changes to improve risk selection and builder quality assessments.
- Partner with Claims to support the resolution of complex cases and provide expert input for recovery opportunities against third parties.
- Build the Network by developing and maintaining a vetted list of third-party engineering vendors.
- Serve as a Technical Anchor
, providing training and guidance to internal teams and standardizing engineering review processes.
- Education & Licensure: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred (or the ability to obtain one).
- Experience: 5+ years in civil, structural, or geotechnical engineering, with a strong preference for wood framing and foundation systems.
- Field Expertise: Comfortable performing onsite inspections, drafting structural repair plans, and writing detailed technical reports.
- Practical Mindset: You are a solution-oriented problem solver, not just a theoretical designer, capable of making firm judgment calls in the field.
- Communication: The ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical advice for builders, contractors, and internal claims teams.
- Adaptability: Self-motivated and able to operate independently in a remote/hybrid environment.
- Location: Dallas/Fort Worth, TX (remote with onsite travel required)
- Compensation: $90K - $120K/yr. (Based on experience)
- Bonus Potential: Eligibility for performance-based bonuses.
- Travel: Travel reimbursement provided for site inspections and field visits.
- Benefits: Comprehensive package including Health, Dental, & Vision Insurance, Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays, and 401K with company match.
- Growth: Significant opportunity for professional advancement as the risk management department evolves.
