Senior Estimator – Heavy Civil Construction

DEPCOM Power is hiring a Senior Estimator focused on heavy civil construction for solar and battery storage projects. Preferred locations are Houston, TX;
Scottsdale, AZ; and Bedminster, NJ, with remote U.S. options available. The role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

• Lead the refinement of civil estimating processes and templates to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Develop bottom‑up civil estimating tools based on best construction practices, productivity, and resource consumption for solar and BESS projects.
• Maintain a database library of means and methods, components, and associated productivity rates for civil work.
• Prepare comprehensive project cost estimates aligned with RFP requirements for utility‑scale solar and battery storage projects.
• Collaborate with business development, engineering, and project delivery teams to formulate winning bid strategies and optimize project costs.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to enhance estimate reliability and competitiveness.
• Participate in pre‑bid meetings, client discussions, and leadership updates.
• Conduct site visits as necessary and produce detailed reports to inform project planning.

• Experience in heavy civil construction, estimating, or project management.
• Knowledge of best practices in cost estimation and estimating tools/software (InEight preferred or similar).
• Proficiency with takeoff software (Bluebeam, AgTek, or similar) and ability to interpret complex project documentation.
• Strong understanding of earthwork, foundations, roads, drainage, and site development.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and refine estimating processes.

• Extensive experience in civil construction for large commercial, renewable energy, or utility‑scale solar projects.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience leveraging generative AI to streamline workflows and improve outcomes.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a related field.

Salary range $120,000 – $160,000 per year, plus variable pay opportunities. Sign‑on bonus of $5,000 upon hire.
