OverviewSeeking a highly skilled Senior GE Proficy MES Engineer to serve as the primary MES technical resource and advocate for manufacturing plants across the organization. This individual will act as the central point of contact between plant operations, IT, ERP, and MES environments while directly supporting and troubleshooting critical manufacturing systems.
This role is not intended to be a passive coordinator or ticket escalator. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, capable of directly investigating, troubleshooting, modifying, and supporting GE Proficy MES environments from day one. The person in this role will help reduce operational friction for plant teams by providing responsive technical support, improving communication, and resolving issues efficiently.

, historians, and T-SQL with the communication skills and personality needed to work effectively with plant managers, engineers, and corporate IT leadership.
- Serve as the primary MES point of contact for manufacturing plants and corporate IT teams
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for MES-related issues across multiple manufacturing facilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve GE Proficy MES issues, calculations, reporting discrepancies, logic changes, and data flow problems
- Analyze manufacturing data and support integrations between MES systems, historians, and Oracle ERP environments
- Work directly with plant managers, production teams, controls engineers, and IT leadership to identify and resolve operational challenges
- Support MES enhancements, report development, data extraction, and logic modifications within the MES environment
- Understand and work with local and remote historians, manufacturing tags, data structures, and plant-level operational metrics
- Utilize T-SQL to interface with historians and MES data environments
- Support new plant initiatives, system expansions, and MES-related process improvements
- Act as a technical liaison between plants and external contractors/consultants when escalation support is required
- Help de-escalate plant frustrations by providing responsive communication and ownership of issues from start to resolution
- Collaborate closely with ERP, SQL, and infrastructure teams within the corporate IT organization
- Travel to manufacturing plants as needed to support operations and build relationships with plant personnel
- Strong hands-on experience supporting and troubleshooting GE Proficy MES environments
- Experience working with manufacturing data historians and understanding historian architecture
- Strong proficiency in T-SQL / SQL Server for querying, extracting, and manipulating manufacturing data
- Ability to troubleshoot MES calculations, reporting logic, integrations, and plant data issues
- Experience supporting MES integrations with ERP systems such as Oracle
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and plant operations personnel
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently investigate and resolve issues
- Ability to understand manufacturing processes and relate system data to plant operations
- Experience working in manufacturing, industrial, or plant environments preferred
- Ability to function as a hands-on technical resource rather than solely coordinating vendors or consultants
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with plant managers, engineers, IT leadership, and external vendors
- Ability to travel to manufacturing facilities as needed
- Experience with GE Proficy Historian
- Experience supporting MES environments within heavy manufacturing or industrial operations
- Familiarity with manufacturing tags, PLC data, and operational reporting structures
- Experience working with MES logic, calculations, and reporting configurations
- Understanding of ERP integrations and manufacturing reporting workflows
- Experience supporting enterprise manufacturing technology initiatives
- Strong technical depth in GE Proficy MES with the ability to contribute immediately
- Capable of independently troubleshooting and resolving MES-related issues without extensive ramp-up time
- Able to build credibility and trust with plant operations teams
- Communicates effectively and remains calm under pressure when supporting operational issues
- Hands-on, solutions-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of problems from start to finish
- Personality and communication style that meshes well with both manufacturing operations and corporate IT teams
