Amcor Rigid Packaging Solutions North America (RPSNA) is hiring a Senior Product Development Engineer. The role is part of the Bottles Product Development team and is responsible for managing all technical aspects of a development project from initiation to full production capability.
Job DescriptionThe engineer works closely with customers, sales, design engineers, project managers, R&D, manufacturing, engineering support, and product line management to develop next‑generation products that drive profitability and growth.
Responsibilities- Lead a multi‑functional team through the development of new products from concept, manufacturing implementation, and commercial launch.
- Execute the project plan and drive decisions to deliver the project on time, within budget, and within scope.
- Oversee product and tooling design, including leading ideation sessions, conducting competitive analysis, documenting design requirements, DFMEA, and leading design reviews to gain team alignment.
- Coordinate the Technical Development Plan that outlines all details necessary for the Product Line Manager to respond to an RFQ or create a Business Case, including cost inputs, capital equipment costs, and technology evaluations.
- Lead technical communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Report deviations on time, cost, and deliverable project components to senior management.
- Adhere to Amcor, industry, and regulatory procedures such as Management of Change, Stage Gate, and ISO processes.
- Work closely with Quality personnel to establish critical-to-quality metrics and ensure process capability is validated for those metrics.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5–7+ years of relevant engineering experience within product development and manufacturing of plastic bottles, including expertise in the multi‑step process such as EBM, SBM, and RHB.
- Ability to travel domestically as needed (10%–20%).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of statistical methods and programs (SPC, DOE, Mini Tab).
- Self‑motivated, assertive, proactive thinker with a results‑oriented mindset.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills for data‑driven decisions.
The starting salary for this position is expected to be between $120,000 and $140,000. Base pay may vary within the full salary range of $110,200 to $155,000 depending on experience and job‑related knowledge. The role may also be eligible for Amcor’s Management Incentive Plan and Sales Incentive Plan, as well as medical coverage and other health and welfare benefits.
