Job SummaryMotor Controls, Inc. (MCI) / Flowtronex is seeking an experienced PLC Programmer to join our Controls Engineering team in Dallas. This position is responsible for programming, configuring, testing, and troubleshooting PLC-based control systems, operator interfaces, and variable speed drives used in custom pump stations and industrial equipment.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with multiple PLC platforms, HMI development, and drive setup in a manufacturing or industrial controls environment.
Responsibilities- Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems for custom pump stations and industrial control equipment
- Develop and modify control logic, operator interface screens, alarms, and communication networks
- Perform startup, testing, and debugging of completed systems in the shop and occasionally in the field
- Configure and load programs into PLCs, HMIs, and industrial communication devices
- Set up, configure, and load parameter files into variable speed drives
- Work closely with electrical designers, engineering, production, and field service personnel
- Review project specifications and customer requirements to develop appropriate control strategies
- Maintain program backups, revision history, and project documentation
- Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement of existing systems
- Assist with FAT testing, commissioning, and customer support
- 3+ years of experience programming PLC-based industrial control systems
- Strong understanding of PLC programming, HMI development, and industrial networking
- Experience with Ether Net/IP, Modbus, serial communications, and related industrial protocols
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, and panel layouts
- Experience troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and control panels
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Associate degree, technical degree, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering Technology, Controls, Automation, or a related field preferred
- Experience with pump station, irrigation, water treatment, or industrial equipment controls
- Experience with Allen-Bradley Compact Logix and Control Logix platforms
- Experience with Schneider PLC and HMI systems
- Experience with variable frequency drives and motor control applications
- Commissioning and field startup experience
- Experience in a custom manufacturing environment
Experience with one or more of the following platforms is strongly preferred:
- Allen-Bradley: RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, Factory Talk View, Connected Components Workbench (CCW)
