Responsibilities
- Work as a key member of a design team in preparation of the following elements of roadway, street and/or highway design using local (state, county or city) or AASHTO standards: horizontal and vertical alignment, intersection layout and sight distance determination, interchange layout, roadway drainage, and right-of-way plans
- Work with a team as a project manager or task leader for the preparation of plans, specifications and estimate for projects of various sizes and complexity
- Produce some of the following plans:
Roadway Sections, Alignment/Right of Way Plans, Temporary Erosion Control Plans, Site Preparation Plans, Roadway Profiles, Drainage Plans and Profiles, Utility Plans (Water & Sewer), Paving, Pavement Marking Plans, Signing Plans, and Traffic Control Plans - Manage the following work elements: day-to-day communication (verbal and written) with the client, support and advise junior engineers and technical staff, write reports and technical memos, coordinate with subconsultants, keep project on schedule and within budget, and keep client satisfied
- Perform other duties as needed
- PE required and if registered as a PE in another state, the candidate must gain Texas reciprocity within 6 months
- 5 years’ experience in highway design and/or municipal roadway design
- 3D corridor modeling experience (preferably with Bentley Open Roads Designer)
- Bachelor's degree
- Previous experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example:
Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. - Hands‑on experience with Highways and Roads CAD engineering software such as Bentley Concept Station and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
- MS Office knowledge
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans
