Overview
At HDR, you will join a team of engineers focused on the Power Generation and Renewables field, helping design, build and operate power generation, cogeneration, renewable and district heating and cooling facilities. You will support mechanical engineering, construction projects, and collaborate with electrical engineering and other professionals to deliver reliable, resilient and sustainable power systems.
Responsibilities- Perform engineering calculations and code reviews.
- Size and select materials and equipment.
- Participate in site visits and surveys.
- Develop and review piping & instrument drawings.
- Review manufacturers’ drawings and submittals.
- Develop procurement and construction specifications.
- Perform bid evaluations.
- Evaluate existing systems and equipment.
- Write technical reports.
- Participate in team meetings.
- Communicate with equipment vendors.
- Process engineering submittals and other tasks as assigned.
- Some travel may be required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited) or a similar field such as Chemical Engineering.
- Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Strong EIT certification or willingness to obtain one.
- Experience with relevant software packages.
- Strong interest in power generation, design and consulting.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Positive attitude, teamwork ability, and ability to coordinate with others.
- Ability to travel.
- Self‑motivated, independent, accurate, detail oriented and meeting deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and multi‑tasking capability.
- Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar, equipment selection software).
