Job Summary

The EHS Corporate Compliance Specialist plays an essential role in establishing and promoting a culture of safety within an organization, focusing on compliance with both internal safety policies and external regulatory requirements. This position involves auditing safety protocols across multiple locations, ensuring that each site adheres to the highest standards of workplace safety and health. This also includes providing a high level report of the compliance audit, creating and overseeing corrective action plans, and offering scheduled reports on the effectiveness of the plan.

Responsibilities
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures.
  • Audit projects, sites, areas, and regions on compliance to regulatory, company, and client requirements and standards.
  • Develop and report audit findings.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols, including site safety health environmental plans (SSP), client guidelines, and relevant federal regulations (OSHA, MSHA).
  • Perform continual monitoring of job sites and work habits to ensure compliance with company and regulatory health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct inspections such as Lockout‑Tagout, required permits, work habits, facility inspections, and construction site inspections.
  • Assist with incident investigations, ensuring they are thorough, accurate, and complete.
  • Ensure corrective actions are proper, applicable, and completed.
  • Provide adequate documentation and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Provide safety analytics related to incident reports, hazards, and corrective actions to operational management.
  • Utilize KPA reporting, including Safety Alerts, Incident Investigation reports, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Work with operations and safety management to determine actionable items and enforce completion.
  • Establish firm communication with operations and H&S staff, responding promptly to field requests.
  • Provide training for compliance deficiencies after auditing.
  • Promote a culture where safety “is who we are” through engagement and teamwork.
  • Act as a constructive partner with operations and a resource for operational staff.
  • Interface regularly with customer safety teams to align company systems with customer requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify safety violations and potential hazards.
  • Document inspections and audits promptly and adequately.
  • Address issues quickly and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist Safety Management with data gathering, analytics, and creation of meeting topics.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies to maintain compliance.
  • Engage in inspections and facilitate audits to uphold safety standards.
  • Ensure proper documentation and notification of all citations.
  • Continuously improve safety practices by staying informed about industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with Regional Safety Management to enhance safety measures and new strategies.
  • Provide field feedback for process improvement.
  • Analyze safety data and trends, develop strategic safety plans, and present findings to senior management.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in industrial construction, mining, electrical construction, pipeline, or associated industries with an emphasis on EHS management, systems, and compliance.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive EHS experience in construction or mining, with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership.
  • Extensive working knowledge of regulatory requirements and agencies and a proven track record of managing compliance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
