Job Description:

Join a collaborative engineering team where your designs directly impact real-world industrial projects. As a Piping Designer, you'll be responsible for developing precise piping layouts and models using AutoCAD and CADWorx, supporting projects from concept through construction.

This role offers a mix of office-based design work and hands-on field exposure, giving you the opportunity to validate your work on-site and collaborate closely with engineers, drafters, and project teams.

We're looking for someone who is detail-driven, self-sufficient, and thrives in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high accuracy and quality.

Key Responsibilities

* Design and draft 2D and 3D piping systems, including layouts, isometrics, and construction drawings

* Interpret P&IDs to develop accurate, constructible models

* Create and maintain bill of materials (BOMs), line lists, and tie-in lists

* Perform field walk-downs, take measurements, and develop field sketches

* Build equipment and piping models based on vendor drawings and specifications

* Utilize point cloud/laser scan data to generate highly accurate models

* Coordinate with structural and stress engineers to ensure design integrity and compliance

* Review and incorporate piping stress analysis results into designs

* Participate in design reviews, P&, and project meetings

* Mentor junior designers and review work for accuracy and quality

* Track progress against project schedules and man-hour estimates

* Ensure designs meet safety, constructability, operability, and maintainability standards

Qualifications

Required:

* Associate or Technical degree (Bachelor's preferred)

* Proven experience in piping design within an industrial environment

* Strong 3D modeling experience

* Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and 3D)

* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and P&IDs

* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred:

* Experience with CADWorx Plant Professional

* Familiarity with ReCap and point cloud modeling

* Knowledge of AISC and ASTM standards

* Understanding of construction, fabrication, and installation practices

* Experience working in both field and office settings

This is a Contract position based out of Dallas, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
