Responsibilities
- Manage the day‑to‑day communication with the client, support and advise junior engineers and technical staff, write reports and technical memos, coordinate with subconsultants, keep the project on schedule and within budget, and keep the client satisfied.
- Work with a team as a project manager or task leader for primarily highway and/or local road projects in preparing plans, specifications and estimates for projects of various sizes and complexity.
- Produce plans such as Roadway Sections, Alignment/Right of Way Plans, Temporary Erosion Control Plans, Site Preparation Plans, Roadway Profiles, Drainage Plans and Profiles, Utility Plans (Water & Sewer), Paving, Pavement Marking Plans, Signing Plans, and Traffic Control Plans.
- Independently coordinate the work of engineers and balance the planning team throughout the entire project’s development.
- Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.
- Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with the team to ensure that work is completed within agreed‑to schedule parameters.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- 10+ years’ experience in highway design and/or municipal roadway design.
- PE required; if registered as a PE in another state, must gain Texas reciprocity within 6 months.
- MS Office knowledge.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- A minimum of 10 years experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design.
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example:
Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. - Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teams.
- Project management skills desirable.
- Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans.
- Must have coordinated survey, grading, drainage and utilities and layout of various site items is a plus.
