We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Estimator to support the bidding and evaluation process for industrial construction projects valued up to $25 million. In this role, you will analyze technical documents, perform precise quantity take-offs, and compile comprehensive bid packages. You will collaborate closely with clients, engineers, and operations teams to ensure accurate project execution.
Key Responsibilities- Estimate projects up to $25M, depending on complexity and scope of self-performance work.
- Read and interpret all bid documents including drawings, scope of work, contract documents, and project-specific specifications.
- Review Request for Information (RFIs) to address questions throughout the bid process.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for materials (conduit, wire, instruments) and estimate labor hours for installation; review junior estimator take-offs and enter into estimating software as needed.
- Assign labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to task quantities.
- Understand project requirements and assign appropriate indirect costs.
- Assemble comprehensive bid packages including subcontractor quotes, vendor pricing, and project schedule.
- Compile all exceptions and clarifications; generate all submittals called for in the RFQ.
- Conduct risk assessment to identify potential project risks and incorporate contingency costs into the proposal.
- Compile conceptual design budgets based on comparable projects to support client return-on-investment assessment.
- Attend bid review meetings and present information as necessary.
- Upon award, compile all bid information, disseminate into appropriate project folder files, attend project turn-over meetings, and support operations through the pre-construction phase.
Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience as an electrical estimator with specialized knowledge in instrumentation, control systems, and industrial construction.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and construction processes.
- Proficiency with electrical estimating software (e.g., Accubid), AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, MS Project, Navisworks, and Procore.
- Excellent analytical and math skills with strong attention to detail for precise material take-off.
- Understanding of civil, concrete, structural steel, equipment setting, and mechanical construction requirements preferred.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with project managers, engineers, and clients to align on project strategies and design change.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred, or equivalent field experience (e.g., journeyman electrician).
- ASPE or AACE International certification preferred.
