Assistant Project Engineer

The Assistant Project Engineer is a high-impact, early-career role designed for individuals seeking deep exposure to real asset development and construction execution. This role supports complex projects from due diligence through construction, with direct involvement in field work, technical analysis, cost and schedule tracking, and cross-functional coordination.

The Assistant Project Engineer role is intentionally structured to develop future Project Engineers and Project Managers by pairing hands-on technical work with direct visibility into how design, cost, risk, and execution decisions are made on institutional-quality assets. Success in the Assistant Project Engineer role is defined as an individual who produces accurate and reliable field and technical documentation with minimal rework, increases independence in plan review, coordination, and issue resolution, has strong working relationships with project teams, consultants, and contractors, and has consistent delivery of high quality work under tight timelines.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Support Project Managers and Project Engineers in active project delivery across planning, design, and construction phases
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, surveyors, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely information flow
  • Assist with procurement, logistics, scheduling updates, and milestone tracking
  • Proactively identify gaps, conflicts, or risks and escalate with recommended solutions
  • Conduct regular site visits to verify progress, document conditions, and validate construction against plans
  • Assist in the preparation of site plans, exhibits, and technical documentation used in design, approvals, and investment decisions
  • Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and supporting documentation
  • Maintain clean, well-organized project records and document control systems
  • Review engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports with increasing independence
  • Support cost estimating, quantity takeoffs, and budget tracking
  • Contribute to feasibility analysis, pre-development efforts, and acquisition due diligence
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and applicable codes

Education and experience required:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
  • Zero to three (0-3) years of progressive construction, engineering, real estate development, or related field experience required
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant field experience considered
  • Exposure to marina, waterfront, or technically complex real estate assets experience preferred
  • Must have a working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar design software
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office products to include Excel, Word, Outlook, and project documentation tools
  • Must have exposure to construction and project management platforms (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam)
  • Must be able to complete a background check deemed acceptable by the Company

Working conditions/physical requirements:

  • Primarily works in an office setting seated at a desk for extended periods of time, however, has a blend of office-based and field-based work environments
  • Must be able to independently lift, carry, push, and pull up to thirty (30) pounds
  • Must be able to travel as directed to various marina site locations with exposure to active construction sites in varying environmental conditions
  • Must possess a valid driver's license as the individual is required to drive on behalf of the Company to visit various site locations as needed
  • This individual visits site locations in a marina environment and must be able to swim or be willing to wear a personal floatation device
