ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, perform and document all commissioning activities (pre-commissioning, through construction, testing - commissioning, energization - project close out) of various utility substation protection, control and power circuits in accordance with TRC's and Client's requirements, budgets, schedules
- Review of wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering documents in advance of projects and outages
- Perform trouble-shooting and problem analysis associated with protection and control systems and utility substation equipment, including but not limited to:
Application Errors and Omissions, Drawing Errors and Omissions, Wiring Errors and Omissions, Settings Errors and Omissions, Equipment Malfunctions, Questionable Apparatus Test Results, Battery Ground Faults - Participate in project meetings including but not limited to: kickoff meetings, planning meetings, progress meetings, lessons learned meetings.
- Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and project completion reports and documentation that includes project progress, issues or problems, recommendations, test results and analyses
- Assist in developing project specific testing and commissioning plans, energization plans, or any other assigned project specific documentation
- Identify risks and associated mitigation techniques on utility systems and equipment. Develop a Site Risk Assessment to document all high risk construction and commissioning activities and to formalize the processes of circuit isolation and restoration in a manner that ensures no unintended operations of station equipment and protection systems and personnel safety.
- Make certain all applicable tests and/or commissioning activities are performed on every piece of equipment or system in accordance with planning and project documents. Make certain all test results are acceptable and permanently recorded, filed and distributed properly.

Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical or Power Systems preferred) from an accredited school or University and related experience with testing and commissioning services
- Electric Utility experience is preferred but will train T-C Engineers with experience in commissioning complex commercial - industrial equipment including protective relays or other Power Systems Field Engineers with relay knowledge.
- Demonstrated ability to both read and understand construction and manufacturer-s drawings and specifications as well as schematic diagrams
- Strong knowledge of (or the ability to learn) electrical protection systems, including relay communication;
Basic understanding of (or the ability to learn) AC and DC schematics, wiring and drawings, one line and three line interconnection diagrams - Prior professional experience in (or the ability to learn quickly) medium and high voltage substation and power plant equipment. Perform basic apparatus testing and interpret test results with supervision.
