Austin Commercial is currently seeking a VDC Engineer for our North Texas Division.
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and/or fax machines.
Responsibilities- Functions as the BIM/VDC “Model Administrator” on assigned projects
- Implements Austin Commercial BIM/VDC processes on assigned projects
- Spends time at the jobsite implementing BIM/VDC field construction processes on assigned projects
- Supports BIM/VDC project staff training on assigned projects
- Markets BIM/VDC services internally and externally
- Presents BIM/VDC projects and services at industry related conferences and forums
- Stays current on what is being marketed/executed by our competition locally
- Creates models, including site logistics, structure, interior/exterior architecture, and MEP/FP systems as needed
- Validates model quality and accuracy
- Performs model revisions and manages model distribution
- Creates custom model components and families as needed
- Creates, revises, and maintains 4D schedules
- Develops and maintains BIM/VDC coordination schedules on assigned projects
- Manages and distributes BIM/VDC coordination files on assigned projects
- Leads and/or Manages the BIM/VDC coordination effort, identifying areas of conflict and leads conflict resolution
- Tracks and reports on BIM/VDC coordination progress and efficiency
- Creates and distributes coordination meeting minutes
- Assists in BIM/VDC shop and field use drawing production and review
- Creates dimensioned drawings from the model for field use as needed
- Supports BIM/VDC layout on projects and assists in field as-built verification
- Validates model accuracy for model based quantity takeoff
- Creates model based quantity surveys for estimate verification
- Models components as needed for accurate quantity takeoff
- Ability to support an FM implementation strategy based on Owner’s needs and future goals
- Supports the training of Owner’s FM staff on implementation of FM software and workflows as required
- BS/BA in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or completion of Construction Management Certificate Program or equivalent
- A Minimum 3 years of project engineering experience - Field Engineer, Project Engineer, or equivalent if applicable
- Thorough knowledge of construction related BIM/VDC processes and software
- General understanding of project delivery methods and their impact on BIM/VDC services (CMR, DBB, IPD, etc.)
- Strong problem solving, communication and public speaking skills
- Thorough understanding of construction terminology and processes; construction materials and systems; and drawings and specifications
- Thorough understanding of planning and scheduling concepts with a thorough understanding of construction work sequencing
- Thorough understanding of quality control principles
