Plumbing Designer
Position is currently a remote opportunity until the establishment of a formal office location within Kansas City. Upon opening in September, the role will transition to a hybrid in‑office schedule.

- Processes drawings received from the architect into usable models for the design team.
- Prepares electronic drawings with accuracy, neatness and efficiency using industry software.
- Assists in the development of design approaches and concepts on assigned projects.
- Implements design requirements as communicated by the design team.
- Performs system design layout and sizing for assigned projects.
- Assists in load calculations and equipment selection to fit the project design.
- Identifies design issues and communicates them with senior designers and engineers.
- Attends project update meetings with both clients and team members.
- Coordinates with external and internal contacts such as owners, architects, MEP disciplines and CADD designers.
- Performs collision changes in Navisworks as collisions are identified.
- Visually reviews plans for design defects.
- Plans work and performs tasks in accordance with the man‑hour budget.
- Communicates with team members, project managers, other disciplines and outside vendors to obtain necessary drawing information.
- Assists in data collection and/or field verification.
- Assists with on‑site observations during construction and coordinates design requirements with contractors and suppliers under senior staff direction.
- Assists the design team in organizing drawings into a coherent package.
- Maintains project design and construction files.
- Reviews shop drawings, records changes and keeps all disciplines informed of details and schedules.
- Stays current on code requirements, design software and industry trends.
- Assists in training and mentoring team members.
- Two‑year technical degree in an applicable discipline plus three years of applicable experience, or five years of applicable experience.
- Capable of reading and interpreting plans from other disciplines (architectural, structural, civil, plumbing, electrical, mechanical).
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and discipline specific engineering software (TRACE, HASS, SKM).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge of construction terminology.
- Knowledge of basic math.
- Knowledge of building design specifications.
- General knowledge of engineering theories and methodologies.
- General knowledge of applicable engineering disciplines.
