Manufacturing Test Engineer

Wipro Technologies-USA is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manufacturing Test Engineer to join our ENGG - WIPRO ENGINEERING team within the VLSI sector. As a Manufacturing Test Engineer, also known internally as a VLSI Engineer L3, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our cutting-edge semiconductor products by executing and maintaining comprehensive testing processes throughout manufacturing cycles.

This function is crucial to supporting mass production efficiency and product excellence. You will be responsible for hands-on support of board- and system-level validation testing, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams in engineering, operations, and manufacturing. Your expertise will contribute to troubleshooting hardware and test station issues, maintaining production readiness, and driving continuous improvements in test yield and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute, validate, and maintain diagnostic test codes for complex VLSI boards and systems within a high-volume production environment, ensuring alignment with quality standards and delivery timelines.
  • Develop, update, and manage detailed manufacturing process documentation and work instructions to standardize test procedures and facilitate training and knowledge transfer.
  • Set up, operate, maintain, and perform regular preventive maintenance on manufacturing test stations to minimize downtime and ensure operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners such as suppliers and contract manufacturers to implement scalable and robust test solutions, including automation enhancements.
  • Conduct initial debugging of hardware failures, collect and analyze diagnostic data, and escalate findings with comprehensive reports to the Operations Engineering team to support root cause analysis.
  • Review large volumes of test logs, identify failure patterns, and provide actionable insights that drive improvements in test methodology and product design.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to manufacturing test equipment and board-level hardware to optimize manufacturing throughput and quality.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing test efficiency, equipment reliability, and yield optimization through data-driven decision making.
  • Support the ongoing operation, setup, and upgrade of test facilities and infrastructure to meet evolving production needs.
  • Adhere to and promote safety, compliance, and quality guidelines across all manufacturing test activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in board- and system-level manufacturing test environments, preferably in semiconductor or VLSI domains.
  • Strong familiarity with compute and networking hardware platforms including CPUs, GPUs, High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), PCI Express, and related technologies.
  • Proficient in Linux command-line tools and shell scripting to interface with test systems and analyze diagnostic outputs.
  • Experience interpreting manufacturing test logs and delivering clear, concise diagnostic communication to engineering stakeholders.
  • Hands-on scripting capabilities using Python and/or shell scripting for test automation, data parsing, or programmatic test control.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing diagnostics software and test automation frameworks common to factory and RMA settings.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to work effectively in collaborative, fast-paced environments.
  • Self-driven with a demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple priorities while fostering teamwork and knowledge sharing.
