Job Summary
Crown Technical Systems, a Flex Company, is seeking a Technical Design Lead focused on Prefabricated Modular Solutions for its U.S. region within its Critical Power business. The senior technical leader will drive the creation, standardization, and ongoing development of prefabricated modular data center reference designs across Flex’s Integrated Modular Solutions portfolio. This role serves as the technical authority for modular data center architecture spanning electrical, mechanical, controls, and structural integration to enable scalable, repeatable, and optimized designs.
Key Responsibilities- Reference Design Ownership & System Architecture
Lead creation of modular data center reference design sets (LOD
100–300+). Define system architecture, redundancy strategies, and performance criteria. Own main electrical design, single line diagrams, cooling concepts, and schematics. - Integrated Solutions Leadership
Provide end‑to‑end technical leadership from concept to construction documents. Align cross‑discipline technical work to a unified system architecture and champion standardization and modularity to reduce cycle times. - Agile Team Leadership & Cross‑Functional Coordination
Lead small agile engineering teams, run design reviews, and manage technical decisions. Partner with the CTO, Product Line Managers, Marketing, and Program Managers. - R&D and Solution Innovation
Collaborate with R&D and regional engineering teams to define reference design requirements, prioritize features and specifications, and advocate for sustainability and ESG initiatives. Ensure compliance with UL, NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, IBC, IEC, CE and stay informed on evolving industry standards. Validate calculations, CFD inputs, and coordination studies. - Additional Responsibilities
Draft and oversee the CAD/BIM Integration Guide for Revit/BIM teams. Review drawings for accuracy and manufacturability. Manage engineering schedules, deliverables, cost‑based BOM generation, and execution excellence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering (preferred).
- 5+ years of data center design or modular data center design experience.
- Strong electrical and mechanical design experience.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and understanding of BIM.
- Experience with hyperscale or large colocation customers.
- Deep systems integration understanding and strong communication skills.
- Ability to lead cross‑functional engineering teams.
- Complete reference design packages that accelerate market delivery.
- Standardize designs to reduce rework and engineering cycle time.
- Build high customer trust and improve competitive positioning.
