Our client is seeking a Quality Test Engineer to support the quality, reliability, and performance of electrical and electronic products throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. This position works closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality to investigate product failures, improve test methods, strengthen manufacturing processes, and implement corrective actions that improve product reliability and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate combines hands-on electrical and electronics troubleshooting with a disciplined quality engineering approach and experience working in an electrical or electronics manufacturing environment.
Whatyou will be doing:
- Investigate product failures involving manufacturing issues, field returns, warranty claims, and customer complaints.
- Lead structured root-cause investigations using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and related problem-solving methods.
- Develop, implement, and verify Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and monitor their effectiveness.
- Develop, validate, and improve electrical and functional test procedures.
- Support production test stations and troubleshoot test-equipment issues.
- Analyze electronic assemblies to identify failure modes and recommend design or process improvements.
- Support New Product Introduction, product validation, and production-readiness activities.
Provide day-to-day technical support to Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and Design Engineering.
Assist with nonconforming-material disposition and Material Review Board activities. - Support supplier-quality investigations when component failures are identified.
- Participate in Design for Manufacturability and Design for Testability reviews.
- Analyze manufacturing and field-quality data to identify trends, recurring issues, and improvement opportunities.
- Perform Pareto analysis, trend analysis, capability studies, and reliability assessments.
- Support ISO 9001 compliance, internal audits, external certification audits, and controlled documentation.
- Support calibration and metrology activities for production and laboratory equipment.
- Prepare clear test procedures, engineering reports, failure-analysis reports, and work instructions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 5 years of experience in electrical or electronics manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical and electronic assemblies.
- Experience supporting manufacturing test systems and production environments.
- Demonstrated experience performing failure analysis and product investigations.
- Experience leading root-cause analysis using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, or comparable methods.
- Experience implementing and verifying CAPA.
- Experience working within an ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Working knowledge of calibration and metrology principles.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
Technical writing experience creating test procedures, engineering reports, failure-analysis reports, and work instructions.
Clear communication skills and the ability to work across Production, Engineering, Quality, suppliers, and other internal teams.
- Experience using Minitab for statistical analysis.
- Experience with Statistical Process Control, Cp/Cpk, and Measurement System Analysis.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous-improvement methods.
- Experience with Design of Experiments.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction.
- Knowledge of IPC standards and electronics-manufacturing processes.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification.
- Experience with ERP and Quality Management Systems.
Salary/Rate Range: $95,000 – $110,000
