Job Description

Shield AI is redefining autonomous aviation with cutting‑edge AI and GPS/RF‑denied navigation technologies. We’re building X‑BAT, a next‑generation aircraft that pushes the boundaries of innovation and performance.

Position:
Power Engineer II – Design, analyze, and validate power electronics systems critical to our aircraft. Ideal candidate has a solid foundation in power systems, thrives in fast‑paced environments, enjoys solving complex problems, and wants to see their work progress from concept to flight.

Responsibilities
  • Design power electronics for HV and LV systems, including high‑voltage/low‑voltage power systems, DC‑DC converters, inverters, motor controllers, battery and battery‑management systems, power generation, distribution, and embedded safety and protection mechanisms.
  • Engineer solutions across power ranges from less than 1 kW low‑power systems to more than 10 kW high‑power applications.
  • Own the full‑cycle hardware development flow – concept, modeling, worst‑case analysis, schematic capture, simulation, prototyping, design reiteration to improve design maturity, testing and validation.
  • Drive PCB layout and design with ECAD engineers, optimizing for power density, EMI, thermal performance, and manufacturability.
  • Design for safety, manufacturability, and reliability, incorporating best practices for safety, manufacturing, and reliability.
  • Execute board bring‑up, verification, validation, and HALT testing to meet rigorous aerospace reliability standards.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, CAD, embedded, software, production, and various aircraft teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Lead and contribute to cross‑functional design reviews to ensure robust, high‑integrity engineering decisions.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and technical milestones to drive on‑time, high‑quality outcomes.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience as an electrical engineer.
  • Experience with circuit design, schematic capture, component selection, circuit testing, and debugging.
  • Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, E‑loads, multimeters, and similar instruments.
  • Proficiency in Altium or equivalent E‑CAD software.
  • Demonstrated record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and treating others with kindness.
  • Ability to obtain a S//SAR‑level security clearance (desired).
Compensation
  • Full‑time regular employee:
Pay within range listed + bonus + benefits + equity.
  • Temporary employee:
Pay within range listed above + temporary benefits package (applicable after 60 days of employment).

Salary compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location. All offers are contingent on a cleared background and possible reference check. Military fellows and part‑time employees are not eligible for benefits.
