We are seeking a Cabin Design Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of aircraft interior design experience, with a strong background designing monuments for VIP/VVIP, business jet, or executive aircraft programs. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on aerospace design experience involving aircraft monuments, cabinetry, galleys, lavatories, closets, partitions, credenzas, entertainment units, and other custom interior structures. This position will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and other cross‑functional teams to transform customer and interior concepts into detailed, manufacturable aircraft interior designs.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop VIP/VVIP aircraft cabin monuments, cabinetry, and interior components in accordance with customer requirements and applicable aerospace standards.
- Develop designs for galleys, lavatories, closets, partitions, credenzas, storage units, side ledges, entertainment centers, cabinetry, and other custom monuments.
- Create and modify detailed 3D models, assemblies, and installation designs for aircraft interiors.
- Develop and interpret engineering drawings, detail drawings, assembly drawings, installation drawings, and technical specifications.
- Translate customer, industrial design, and cabin‑layout concepts into practical and manufacturable engineering solutions.
- Incorporate engineering changes and modification requests into existing aircraft interior designs.
- Ensure designs account for fit, form, function, manufacturability, installation, maintainability, and aircraft integration.
- Work closely with manufacturing and production teams to resolve design and installation issues.
- Investigate design problems, identify root causes, and develop appropriate engineering solutions.
- Coordinate with engineering disciplines and suppliers to ensure successful integration of monuments and cabin components.
- Support engineering changes throughout the aircraft modification/completion process.
- Maintain compliance with applicable company QMS and AS9100 requirements.
- Minimum 5 years of professional aircraft interior/cabin design engineering experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience designing aircraft monuments and cabinetry, including galleys, lavatories, closets, partitions, credenzas, storage units, entertainment units, or similar cabin structures.
- VIP/VVIP aircraft, business jet, executive aircraft, or aircraft completion/modification experience required.
- Strong experience developing 3D models, assemblies, detail drawings, installation drawings, and production‑level engineering documentation.
- Experience supporting designs through manufacturing, installation, integration, and engineering changes.
- Strong understanding of aircraft interior fit, form, function, manufacturability, and installation.
- Proficiency with aerospace CAD/design software; CATIA V5 strongly preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with manufacturing, production, suppliers, and cross‑functional engineering teams.
Preferred Experience
- VIP/VVIP aircraft completions.
- Business jet or executive aircraft interiors.
- Custom aircraft monument and cabinetry design.
- Galleys, lavatories, closets, credenzas, entertainment units, cabin partitions, and storage monuments.
- Monument installation and aircraft integration.
- Aircraft interior modification programs.
- Production/support engineering for aircraft completions.
- Experience taking designs from concept through detailed design, manufacturing, installation, and aircraft delivery.
CATIA V5 experience is strongly preferred, particularly experience creating complex 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings for aircraft interior components. Candidates with strong experience in comparable aerospace CAD platforms may also be considered.
Ideal Candidate ProfileWe are particularly interested in engineers who have worked in an aircraft completion center, VIP/VVIP modification environment, business aviation OEM, or aircraft interior supplier and have personally designed monuments rather than only supporting general cabin systems. The strongest candidates will be able to demonstrate specific experience designing custom cabinetry and monuments for high‑end aircraft interiors and working directly with manufacturing or installation teams to take those designs from engineering through production.
