MEP Superintendent Job Description

The MEP Superintendent's role is to coordinate and manage all activities related to the construction startup and commissioning of the mechanical, electrical, and control systems in accordance with the contract documents and project schedule. Responsibilities include assisting bidding mechanical and electrical trades, managing the equipment procurement process, developing MEP critical path schedules, coordinating and tracking critical path construction and startup activities, tracking and coordinating equipment deliveries, reviewing mechanical and electrical submittals, organizing and conducting project meetings for critical MEP activities, developing MOP for critical work in live environments, working with subcontractors and design team to provide conflict resolution for MEP issues, coordinating and managing the quality control process for MEP systems construction, managing startup and pretesting of mechanical and electrical systems, coordinating and supporting third party commissioning activities, managing commissioning documentation, and building strong client relations.

Qualifications include a four-year degree from an accredited university with a concentration in construction, engineering, or business, four years experience in Mechanical or Electrical System Construction, three years combined experience in Mission Critical Construction, Hospital Construction, MEP Project Management, or Mechanical and Electrical System Start-up and Commissioning, strong communication skills; verbal and written, strong leadership skills; able to build and lead a team, capable in coordinating and scheduling MEP activities, aptitude for problem solving, ability to work independently, motivated self-starter, effectively utilize computer and software technology in the performance of duties, preconstruction / equipment procurement experience, and willingness to travel.
