- Provide technical leadership for high-impact, multi-disciplinary advanced engineering initiatives spanning mechanical, electrical, controls, and system-level domains.
- Define and evaluate future product architectures, technology pathways, and system tradeoffs aligned with 5–10+ year horizons.
- Establish engineering approaches, modeling frameworks, and validation strategies for complex or novel technologies.
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert for advanced HVAC system behavior, performance limits, reliability risks, and compliance implications.
- Guide development and validation of advanced simulation models, digital representations, and custom test methodologies.
- Lead root-cause investigations and failure analyses with broad system implications, translating findings into design guidance and preventative strategies.
- Translate regulatory trends and emerging standards into technical direction, research priorities, and design guardrails.
- Mentor Senior and Advanced Engineers through technical review, coaching, and standards of engineering rigor.
- Author and review white papers, technical position documents, technology roadmaps, and internal engineering guidelines.
- Identify, develop, and support strategic intellectual property opportunities aligned with long-term business goals.
- Typically 8–12 years of experience in advanced engineering, systems engineering, product architecture, or related technical leadership roles.
- Recognized depth of expertise in one or more HVAC-related domains (thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, acoustics, controls, power electronics, or system integration).
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical efforts where requirements are ambiguous and outcomes are not predefined.
- Extensive experience with advanced modeling, simulation, data analysis, and custom testing methodologies.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC industry standards and regulatory frameworks (AHRI, DOE, ASHRAE, UL, CSA).
- Proven ability to influence technical direction across teams without formal people management authority.
