Mechanical Engineer (HVAC / Plumbing Design)
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a collaborative and technically driven engineering consulting team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to complex, high-performance building projects while working alongside experienced multidisciplinary professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in HVAC and plumbing design, excellent problem-solving skills, and a desire to grow within a dynamic project environment.

- Design HVAC systems for complex commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, laboratory, and mission-critical facilities.
- Design plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, vent, storm, and specialty piping systems.
- Support fire protection system design and coordination efforts.
- Perform engineering calculations, system sizing, and technical analyses.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and regulations.
- Prepare engineering studies and documentation, including:
- Heating and cooling load calculations
- Ventilation calculations
- Air balance analyses
- Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling
- Duct pressure loss calculations
- Pump head calculations
- Energy efficiency and load management studies
- Develop coordinated construction documents using Revit and other design tools.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout the design process.
- Communicate project objectives, technical challenges, schedules, and design solutions effectively.
- Participate in professional development, training, and continuing education opportunities.
- Support additional project and engineering tasks as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 3-7 years of mechanical design experience, preferably within an MEP consulting environment.
- Experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial or technical facilities.
- EIT certification preferred but not required.
- PE license or active pursuit of licensure is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with Autodesk Revit.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with industry-standard design and analysis software such as Bluebeam, Trace 3D Plus, Pipe-Flo, or similar tools.
- CFD modeling experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of mechanical system design principles and applicable codes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach to project delivery.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
