Terracon is seeking an experienced
Environmental Regulatory Compliance Scientist or Engineer to join our Team in DFW Metro.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to make a significant contribution to the continued growth of our Regulatory Compliance practice.

To be successful in this role, this individual will need to have a strong technical background, with proven leadership and project management skills. The individual should have experience identifying, developing, and engaging client relationships to grow compliance services and be able to partner with existing staff to grow opportunities locally and regionally. The individual must be established in the regulatory compliance market in Texas and have strong knowledge of the DFW metro markets, including manufacturing and industrial sectors.
The individual will be responsible for driving growth of the regulatory compliance practice. This individual will serve as a senior client-facing professional responsible for leading environmental compliance business development initiatives, strengthening existing client relationships, developing new business opportunities, and preparing successful proposals. Concurrent to client engagement and growth, they will also provide technical leadership through project execution, report preparation, and quality review of deliverables.
The role includes training, mentoring, and coaching staff on technical compliance services, project delivery, client management, and business development best practices.
The individual should have solid experience in Texas and EPA regulations. A broad range of regulatory compliance experience, with technical expertise in some of the following areas:
- Client-facing technical discussions and strategy development
- Regulatory analysis and interpretation
- Agency coordination and negotiation with TCEQ/EPA
- RCRA/Hazardous waste
- Stormwater (municipal, industrial, construction)
- Compliance auditing
- Oil Storage/SPCC plans/FRPs
- SARA Title III (Tier II/TRI) reporting
- Industrial wastewater
- Air permitting (Title V and minor source)
- Sustainability
- Environmental Management Systems
Roles and Responsibilities
- Grow and expand existing environmental compliance services
- Understand the local and regional market
- Participate in the development of local and regional marketing strategies
- Develop strong working relationships with clients
- Develop proposals in response to RFPs and client requests
- Prepare calculations, applications, plans, reports, proposals, and other deliverables
- Manage projects to ensure quality and timeliness
- Mentor staff in technical and consulting aspects of the profession
- Support safety efforts to promote safety rules and guidelines
- Evaluate problems and develop practical solutions that enable our clients to achieve and maintain compliance with environmental regulations
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering (Environmental, Chemical, or Civil preferred), or other environmental-related discipline
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in a full-time regulatory compliance consulting role
- Demonstrated experience identifying and expanding client relationships
- Demonstrated high level of technical writing ability
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work and possess a positive attitude
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving history
- For Engineers, P.E.
- 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER and current 8-Hr refresher preferred
- Master's degree
