About the Position
As a mid-level Electrical Designer in the Oil & Gas group, you will be responsible for performing engineering design under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer. You will be responsible for supporting client projects and providing a quality deliverable that is on time and within the defined budget.
- Performs detailed design and prepares drawings for all aspects of electrical power and mechanical systems within the industrial space to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, general arrangement, selection of equipment, and wiring diagrams.
- Provides conceptual and high-level designs during bidding stage of projects with limited information or direction.
- Assists with external T&D standards development, such as Distribution and Transmission Construction Standards.
- Performs various T&D designs in PLSCADD
- Prepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including basis of designs, bill of materials, and specifications as required.
- Checks the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy as required.
- Contributes to CAD & PLSCADD standard development in a manner that is cognizant of both engineering and design departments.
- Reduces complexity of projects/tasks within their discipline for high-level efficiency.
- Serves a major role in the QA/QC process and takes initiative and ownership on all project and task quality.
- Assists with client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and meetings.
- Maintains outstanding company-client relationships.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Must Have
- Education: Associate degree in Drafting, Design, or related field is preferred
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering drafting and design, or other relevant experience
- Ability to interpret basic one-line/three-line diagrams and schematics
- Basic working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems as they relate to industrial environments
- Proficiency with PLSCADD is required
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- Proficiency with AUD
- Familiarity and experience utilizing various codes and standards such as NEC, NESC, RUS, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and additional computer software
- Maintain high ethical and professional standards within the overall organization
- Engaged in lifelong learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues
- Willingness to attend conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work
- Willingness to attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines
- Provide technical assistance and training for junior drafters and designers
- A strong written and verbal command of the English language
