The Planning Intern supports the planning team in the development of transportation, aviation, environmental, and infrastructure planning studies. The intern will assist with research, data collection, technical documentation, public involvement activities, grant support, mapping, and report preparation while gaining exposure to planning processes and project delivery. The role is intended for students pursuing degrees in planning, engineering, geography, aviation, environmental science, or related fields.

Impact You'll Make
  • Assist with transportation, aviation, and land use planning studies.
  • Conduct research and collect data from local, state, and federal sources.
  • Support grant applications and funding research.
  • Assist with public involvement efforts, including meetings, surveys, and stakeholder outreach.
  • Prepare maps, graphics, charts, and presentation materials.
  • Support GIS analysis and database management.
  • Compile technical information and assist in preparing reports and memoranda.
  • Participate in project team meetings and document action items.
  • Perform field observations and site visits as required.
  • Support senior planners with project coordination and administrative tasks.
The Expertise You'll Bring
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Planning, Aviation Management, Geography, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with GIS, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, or data visualization tools is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Open to interning summer of 2027
  • Experience in CAD and/or Microsoft Office platform is a plus
