This role may be based in our Dallas studio or performed remotely, depending on the candidate’s location, experience, and ability to collaborate consistently with our team. Some availability outside standard working hours and occasional travel may be needed to support community events.
About DevhouseDevhouse is a game development studio based in Dallas, Texas. We work across a wide range of game projects, platforms, and genres, bringing together design, art, engineering, production, and QA to solve problems as one team.
We’re looking for a Game Community & Growth Manager to build an active audience around a game currently in development while also supporting Devhouse’s broader social presence.
This is not a role focused solely on keeping a content calendar full. The right person will develop a clear understanding of our audiences, create reasons for people to participate, and continually evaluate what is actually driving growth. They’ll take ownership of outcomes such as Steam wishlists, active Discord members, Patreon support, social engagement, and event attendance.
About the RoleAs our Game Community & Growth Manager, your primary responsibility will be growing and engaging the audience for one of our original games. You’ll develop and execute strategies across Steam, Discord, Patreon, social media, live events, playtests, and other relevant channels.
You’ll work closely with the development team to uncover stories, progress, and behind-the-scenes moments worth sharing. You’ll turn those opportunities into content, conversations, events, and campaigns that help people discover the game and give existing community members a reason to stay involved.
You’ll also support Devhouse’s company-wide social media and community-building efforts. This may include showcasing our team, sharing studio news, promoting our work, and organizing internal or public-facing events.
Creating a post or scheduling an event is only the beginning. You’ll be expected to promote each initiative, build participation, evaluate its performance, and adjust your approach based on what you learn.
A major part of this role will be creating compelling devlogs and video content. You’ll work closely with the development team to identify interesting stories, capture gameplay and behind-the-scenes footage, and edit that material into content that earns attention and keeps the community invested in the game’s progress.
What You’ll Do- Develop and execute an audience-growth strategy for a game currently in development.
- Grow Steam wishlists through organic campaigns, events, playtests, announcements, partnerships, and platform opportunities.
- Build an active Discord community where members regularly participate rather than simply increasing the server’s total membership.
- Develop Patreon programming that gives supporters clear value and encourages conversion and retention.
- Plan social content across relevant platforms, with a clear purpose and audience for each channel.
- Plan, capture, edit, and publish recurring devlogs that turn ongoing development into engaging stories.
- Capture high-quality gameplay footage and identify moments that clearly communicate what makes the game interesting.
- Create short-form and long-form video content tailored to platforms such as Tik Tok, You Tube, Instagram, Steam, and Discord.
- Develop strong hooks, pacing, titles, thumbnails, and calls to action that encourage viewers to follow, wishlist, join, or support the game.
- Interview or collaborate with developers to make technical and creative progress accessible to a broader audience.
- Repurpose larger development updates into platform-specific clips, posts, GIFs, and community conversations.
- Evaluate watch time, retention, click-throughs, conversions, and audience response to continually improve the content.
- Organize and host online and in-person events such as community nights, live streams, playtests, developer Q&A, tournaments, and studio events.
- Develop a promotion plan for each event, including audience targeting, messaging, reminders, and follow-up.
- Track RSVPs, attendance, participation, and retention to understand why…
