$160,000 to $175,000 base salary

These products emphasize transparent pricing, competitive rates, and higher credit availability than is typically accessible to non-prime consumers, while also supporting long-term credit health.
Role OverviewThe Director of Fraud Prevention is a senior leadership role responsible for building and executing a comprehensive, end-to-end fraud prevention and detection strategy. As the primary fraud leader, you will design and scale the fraud framework—owning everything from risk appetite and detection systems to incident response and cross-functional collaboration.
This is a high-impact, high-visibility role ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex problems in a fast-paced fintech environment and is comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on.
Key Responsibilities- Design, implement, and continuously enhance fraud policies, controls, risk appetite, and the overall fraud operating model across the full customer lifecycle
- Evaluate, select, implement, and optimize fraud platforms, including identity verification, device intelligence, behavioral analytics, and transaction monitoring
- Develop and refine monitoring rules, risk scores, and anomaly detection logic using data analytics and machine learning-driven insights
- Own fraud incident response, including root-cause analysis, remediation plans, response playbooks, cross-functional communication, and post-mortem improvements
- Track and report on fraud losses, false positives, customer impact, remediation timelines, system performance, and overall program effectiveness
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, Compliance, and Finance to embed fraud controls into product features, launches, processes, and customer experience flows
- Manage relationships with fraud vendors, card networks, processors, consortiums, and relevant external partners; oversee contracts, SLAs, and vendor performance
- Serve as the internal fraud subject matter expert, delivering training, building awareness, and supporting change initiatives across the organization
- Perform hands-on fraud analysis and system tuning while additional team capacity is built
- 8+ years of experience in fraud prevention, detection, and risk management within financial services, fintech, or credit card environments
- Deep expertise across major credit card fraud typologies, including account takeover, first-party fraud, synthetic identity fraud, transaction fraud, and bust-out schemes
- Proven success developing fraud strategies that materially reduced losses while maintaining a strong customer experience
- Solid understanding of payment processing, card networks, and transaction monitoring systems
- Experience evaluating, implementing, and managing fraud detection platforms and third-party vendors
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and operate effectively in a fast-moving environment
- Strong project management skills with the ability to take initiatives from strategy through execution
