The Cost Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing cost accounting activities, analyzing production and operational costs, and providing accurate financial insights to support decision-making. This role ensures proper cost controls, inventory valuation, and compliance with accounting standards while partnering closely with operations, finance, and leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, maintain, and oversee standard cost systems and cost accounting procedures
- Analyze manufacturing and operational costs, including labor, materials, overhead, and variances
- Prepare and review cost reports, margin analyses, and profitability studies
- Monitor inventory valuation, including WIP, raw materials, and finished goods
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual cost accounting close processes
- Investigate cost variances and recommend corrective actions
Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning - Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and production teams to improve cost efficiency
- Manage and mentor cost accounting staff
- Support internal and external audits related to cost and inventory accounting
- Drive process improvements and automation within cost accounting systems
