Job Details:
We are seeking a dynamic accounting professional to join our team in the Manufacturing industry. This position is permanent and offers an exciting opportunity to lead and manage the financial responsibilities of our organization. The successful candidate will have a strategic mindset, a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and experience in a public company setting.
Responsibilities:
As an Accounting Manager, you will have a wide range of responsibilities, including:
1. Overseeing and managing the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
2. Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, instituting and maintaining other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyzing/reporting variances.
3. Coordinating the preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
4. Reviewing and ensuring application of appropriate internal controls, SOX compliance, and financial procedures.
5. Ensuring timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data for federal funders, investors, and company’s board of directors.
6. Overseeing the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies.
7. Overseeing preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.
8. Reviewing all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts, and overhead cost allocation.
9. Enhancing and implementing financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems.
10. Hiring, training, and retaining competent accounting staff.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Accounting Manager position will have the following qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a public company setting.
3. 1 to 3 years of public accounting experience.
4. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification preferred.
5. Strong understanding and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
6. Proven experience with financial reporting, financial data analysis, auditing, and forecasting.
7. Proficient in creating journal entries and performing account reconciliations.
8.
Experience with SOX compliance and variance analysis.
9. Excellent leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
10. Knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP).
11. Strong understanding of economic and banking processes.
12. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
13. Strong strategic planning and business development skills.
