Overview

A multibillion-dollar, publicly traded organization is seeking a Senior Manager of Property Tax to take full ownership of the property tax function across a large, multi-state footprint.

This is a highly visible role designed for someone who wants to operate as a true partner to the business, not just a technical tax lead. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to influence strategy, improve processes, and drive value with a clear, path to Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take end-to-end ownership of the property tax function, including compliance, accruals, forecasting, and payments
  • Serve as a strategic partner to Finance, Accounting, FP&A, and Operations, helping guide decision-making and optimize outcomes
  • Oversee multi-state property tax processes across a complex, high-volume environment
  • Develop and manage property tax budgets and forecasts, including cash flow planning and visibility for leadership
  • Perform and present variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast/prior periods) with actionable insights
  • Lead property tax appeal strategy, managing third-party consultants and driving results across jurisdictions
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of tax reporting, filings, and internal controls
  • Identify and implement process improvements and scalable solutions to enhance efficiency and transparency
  • Monitor and interpret legislative and regulatory changes, advising leadership on potential impact
  • Support audits and act as a key liaison with external auditors and service providers
  • Mentor and develop team members, contributing to overall team growth and future leadership bench
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of property tax experience, ideally within a large, multi-entity environment
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state property tax compliance, appeals, and reporting
  • Experience managing external tax vendors and consultants
  • Background in a public company or similarly complex environment preferred
  • Strong analytical and financial insight capabilities
  • Ability to operate as both a hands-on leader and strategic advisor
  • Excellent communication skills with experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders
  • High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and ownership
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Leadership mindset with a desire to progress into a Director-level role

This role is intentionally structured to provide a clear path to Director, offering:

  • Full functional ownership early on
  • Direct exposure to senior leadership and decision-makers
  • Opportunity to influence systems, processes, and long-term strategy
  • Advancement based on impact and performance
