Job Overview

Senior Tax Advocate and Controversy Services Practice at Baker Tilly.

• Provide tax advocacy and controversy services on civil matters. Represent clients for IRS notice responses, penalty abatement requests, and other IRS negotiations.
• Advocate on clients' behalf before IRS collections and all 50 state tax agencies.
• Respond to IRS and other tax authority inquiries when requested and make recommendations to the client for consideration.
• Invest in professional development through active participation in training sessions and networking events both internally and externally.
• Demonstrate excellent team skills, positive attitude and high ethical standards.

• EA required (CPA or JD optional). Must have a PTIN.
• 3–6 or more years of experience in a professional services firm providing tax compliance services or equivalent government agency. Previous experience in tax advocacy or controversy a plus.
• Demonstrated analytical, organizational, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills, and developed Microsoft Suite skills (Word, Excel) required.
• Ability to provide exceptional client service, work in a fast‑paced environment, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment, and exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and timely completion of duties.
• The ability to work effectively in a team environment and comfortably interact with both internal and external clients on a daily basis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong project management and facilitation skills.

The pay rate range is $81,450 to $154,430. Baker Tilly offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package to eligible employees.
