Financial Controller

We are working with a growing real estate firm based in Westlake, TX, looking to bring on a Controller to take ownership of the accounting function and act as a key financial partner to leadership. This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of day-to-day accounting operations across multiple real estate entities
• Manage month-end and year-end close, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Lead tax coordination and compliance, working closely with external advisors (strong tax background required)
• Handle cash flow management, forecasting, and budgeting
• Support acquisitions, dispositions, and capital activity from an accounting perspective
• Maintain and improve internal controls, processes, and reporting efficiencies
• Act as a strategic partner to leadership, providing insights on financial performance
• Assist with audit processes and lender/investor reporting as needed

Requirements:

• CPA required
• Background in public accounting (tax-focused preferred) with transition into an in-house Controller role
• Strong experience within real estate accounting (multifamily, commercial, or development exposure preferred)
• Proven ability to operate in a hands-on, lean environment
• Strong understanding of GAAP, tax structures, and multi-entity accounting
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems (Yardi, MRI, or similar preferred)
