Portfolio Manager

A well-established financial institution with a strong commitment to relationship banking is seeking a Portfolio Manager to support its growing commercial banking team. This individual will serve as a critical partner to Commercial Lenders by assisting with portfolio management, credit analysis, underwriting, and ongoing relationship support. The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for supporting commercial lending activities through credit analysis, underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and client relationship management. This role is ideal for a credit-focused banking professional with strong analytical abilities and a solid understanding of commercial lending principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Commercial Lenders in the management and growth of commercial loan portfolios
  • Underwrite commercial credit opportunities by analyzing financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and collateral positions
  • Prepare credit presentations, loan packages, and financial analyses for loan approval and review processes
  • Monitor covenant compliance and ongoing portfolio performance to ensure strong asset quality
  • Interact with borrowers, attorneys, accountants, and other third parties to obtain information necessary to underwrite, close, and monitor loans
  • Serve as a key point of contact for commercial and consumer banking clients, providing responsive and professional service
  • Maintain accurate loan documentation and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with annual reviews, credit renewals, risk rating assessments, and portfolio maintenance activities
  • Monitor delinquency within assigned portfolios and assist with collection efforts as necessary
  • Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships through treasury management, deposit products, and other banking services
  • Support business development efforts through relationship building and participation in community and networking activities
  • Keep lending officers informed of client needs, credit concerns, and relationship opportunities
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the loan process and ongoing relationship lifecycle
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience within banking, commercial lending, credit analysis, or a related financial services environment
  • Strong commercial credit underwriting and financial analysis skills
  • Ability to analyze business financial statements, tax returns, and cash flow performance

  • Exceptional customer service and relationship management abilities
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making capabilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with banking systems, financial software, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment
