Job OverviewAs a Tax Senior Manager, you will work side‑by‑side with firm leadership to serve clients and build the business. You will mentor and coach a group of talented staff, helping them develop their technical and professional skills. You should be energized by the challenges of providing high‑quality tax services and contributing to the firm’s success.
Responsibilities- Be a trusted member of the engagement team providing federal tax compliance and consulting services to industry‑specific clients.
- Lead client relationships on day‑to‑day tax matters with clients ranging from middle market to multinational.
- Consult on technical matters and special projects in corporate and flow‑through taxation, accounting methods, and ASC
740. - Research tax matters, respond to IRS and other tax authority inquiries, and make recommendations to clients.
- Coordinate with specialty tax practices on state and local, high‑net‑worth, international, research and development, credits and incentives matters.
- Manage client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensure client profitability targets are met.
- Build internal and external relationships to acquire new clients, projects, and revenue.
- Invest in professional development through firm‑wide learning and development programs.
- Support the growth and development of team members through the Baker Tilly Careand Teach philosophy.
- Foster a culture of work‑life balance through friendships, social activities and team outings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4‑year degree and CPA, Law License, or Enrolled Agent.
- 5 years of experience in a professional services firm.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, law, or a related business field (master’s or advanced degree desirable).
- CPA or JD required.
- 8 or more years’ experience providing federal tax compliance and consulting services.
- 5 or more years of supervisory experience mentoring and counseling associates.
- Strong managerial, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills.
- Excellent client service, ethical judgment, and a sense of urgency and commitment to quality.
- Advanced Microsoft Office and tax software proficiency.
