Middle Market Banking - Relationship Manager II Job Description

As a Commercial and Specialty Banking Relationship Manager II, you will ensure the overall success and growth of an assigned portfolio by deepening relationships of existing clients and acquiring new clients, while cross‑selling lending, depository, and Treasury Management products to new and existing bank clients. You will be responsible for reviewing clients’ credit needs, designing solutions, negotiating credit terms, loan repayment methods, and collateral specifications with the client.

You will manage the existing portfolio of clients and monitor the client relationship for compliance with credit standards, update financials, maintain insurance on bank collateral, and review loans for accurate grades. You will handle relationships with credit exposure greater than  2 million and fee income over  25,000. Additionally, you are expected to provide financial advice and counsel regarding business environment trends and general banking trends, review loan documents for compliance with the Loan Policy and banking laws, maintain compliance with all Federal and State regulations—including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)—and build a great rapport with clients and associates.

All associates are expected to maintain current knowledge and consistent compliance with regulations and bank policies and procedures related to the position, including but not limited to BSA and OFAC requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • University degree in business, finance, or a related field, or a combination of education and work experience.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Good managerial, communication, and sales skills.

Desired

Qualifications:

  • MBA or master’s degree in business, finance, or a related field, or a combination of education and work experience.
  • 7+ years of Commercial or Specialty experience.
  • 7+ years of commercial credit experience.
  • Completion of a formal credit training program.
  • Strong communication and sales skills.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong business development skills and an overall understanding of credit and business finance.
  • Strong networking skills and participation in networking events in the market area.
  • Competent in the operation of standard office equipment including computer, fax, ten‑key calculator, and phone.
  • Competent in the use of standard office software including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Solid knowledge of banking policies, regulations, and compliance issues.
  • Solid ability to analyze financial statements.
  • Solid knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build peer and/or team cohesiveness to deliver the full complement of bank products and services.
  • Self‑directed and motivated to accomplish tasks, meet objectives, and commit to timelines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate issues.
