About the Job

The QWP Tax Department is launching its in-house presence, and we are looking for a Senior Tax Associate to join the ground floor of that build-out in our Dallas office. This full-time position is responsible for preparing, managing, and reviewing complex individual, trust, and business tax returns to ensure accurate and timely tax preparation and compliance.

This is a hands-on, execution-oriented role centered on high-quality tax return preparation  is best suited to a preparer who takes real satisfaction in working through returns efficiently and consistently — not someone seeking an independent client advisory career path. You will report directly to our Managing Director, Head of Tax, working alongside a sophisticated client base while helping build a modern, technology-enabled tax process from the ground up.

  • Fixed Hybrid Structure:
    This role requires a strict, company-wide Monday-Thursday in-office presence at our Dallas location, with Fridays flex/remote. This policy applies firm-wide; there is no flexibility toward a fully remote arrangement.
  • Work-Life Balance:
    No billable-hour requirements or per-case time tracking.
  • Timeline:
    Immediate hire.
Key Responsibilities Tax Return Preparation & Review
  • Manage, prepare, and review federal and state complex individual (1040), partnership (1065), corporate (1120/1120-S), trust (1041), and gift tax (709) returns across a range of clients.
  • Work through return volume efficiently while maintaining accuracy, strict attention to detail, and managing multiple filing deadlines.
  • Reconcile source documents, K-1s, and supporting work papers to firm standards.
  • Respond to preparation notes and reviewer feedback, making corrections promptly.
Tax Advisory Support & Research
  • Research and interpret complex tax law and regulations to apply them directly to unique client situations.
  • Identify proactive tax planning opportunities and provide clear, strategic guidance to wealth advisors and clients.
  • Coordinate tax information seamlessly with internal teams to support year-round integrated tax and wealth management offerings.
Client Communication & Document Management
  • Communicate directly with clients via telephone and email to request documents, follow up on outstanding items, and keep engagements moving forward.
  • Maintain detailed, structured documentation throughout the client document-gathering process.
  • Walk clients through completed returns, explaining results and answering questions in clear, plain language while maintaining strict client confidentiality.
IRS Controversy & Process Oversight
  • Handle IRS and state tax matters, including responding to notices and resolving controversy issues.
  • Call the IRS on behalf of clients as needed.
  • Contribute directly to internal process improvements and mentor junior team members as the department scales.
  • Work daily in Sure Prep, GoSystem Tax RS, and Excel.
  • Embrace technology as a core part of the job by proactively identifying tools, automation opportunities, and workflow improvements to make the preparation cycle faster and more efficient.
