Position Overview

This is an opportunity to own the analytical engine behind an active multifamily investment platform. The Associate will underwrite acquisition and development opportunities, author investment memoranda, and engage directly with lenders and capital partners, working alongside senior leadership with immediate transaction responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Underwriting and Investment Analysis:

  • Underwrite multifamily acquisition and development opportunities through detailed financial models, including development budgets, operating pro formas, and returns analysis.
  • Conduct market research, rent and sales comparable analysis, and sensitivity analysis to support investment decisions.
  • Build, maintain, and improve underwriting models and analytical templates used across the platform.

Investment Memoranda and Presentations:

  • Author investment memoranda that present transaction merits, risks, and structure for executive review.
  • Prepare presentation decks and marketing materials for lenders, investors, and capital partners.

Capital Formation and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Support capital formation efforts, including preparation of financing packages and responses to lender and investor diligence requests.
  • Participate in meetings and calls with brokers, lenders, equity partners, and other external stakeholders.

Transaction and Platform Support:

  • Support due diligence, closing processes, and post-closing asset performance tracking.
  • Collaborate with the firm’s real estate credit team on underwriting and origination analysis as transaction flow requires.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate, economics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Three to five years of experience in real estate investment banking, real estate private equity, or institutional multifamily acquisitions or development.
  • Advanced financial modeling proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to build underwriting models from a blank workbook.
  • Demonstrated experience authoring investment memoranda or credit memoranda for institutional review.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in AI-powered tools, with hands-on experience using Claude; ability to configure, implement, and build custom agents to automate research, analysis, and reporting workflows. Working knowledge of real estate capital markets, including debt and equity structures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the presence to engage lenders and investors directly.

Ideal Background

The right candidate typically comes from a real estate investment banking analyst or associate program, a real estate private equity firm, or the acquisitions or development team of an institutional multifamily owner or developer. Candidates with exposure to both equity underwriting and real estate credit are especially well positioned for this role.
