Job Summary
This Commercial Loan Officer is responsible for developing new business through underwriting, structuring, and closing commercial loans, while maintaining and servicing an existing portfolio.
Key Responsibilities- Acquisition, expansion and retention of commercial relationships using a proactive calling strategy.
- Cross‑sell ancillary products and services of the bank.
- Analyze credit history of applicants and determine loan repayment capabilities.
- Negotiate credit terms such as cost, repayment methods, and collateral specifications.
- Develop and maintain interest rate structure consistent with institutional policies and market rates.
- Evaluate potential customer loan requests and make recommendations to management.
- Daily review, approval, and disposition of commercial overdrafts.
- Review new laws and regulations influencing business lending; recommend to management.
- Provide assistance and recommend training for new commercial loan officers.
- Develop new customer prospects and business for First United.
- Represent the bank in the local community through active participation in community affairs.
- Handle customer complaints and escalated issues.
- Maintain cleanliness of workstation.
- Recommend methods to improve department.
- Complete required compliance exams annually.
- Adhere to First United policies and procedures.
- Dress professionally.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting preferred.
- Minimum three years of commercial banking experience.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial lending policies, procedures, and related services.
- Business development experience.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Good problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Demonstrates good judgment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range of people.
- Clear communication, written, verbal, and non‑verbal.
- Willingness to accept additional responsibilities.
- Dependable and adheres to timelines and schedules.
- Initiative in project development and completion.
