About the CompanyOur client is a private equity-backed company that has outgrown the way it once ran its finance function, and the leadership team knows it. They have a sponsor who believes in the business, has committed capital to it, and has a clear sense of what the next few years need to look like. What they are missing is the finance leader who can see around corners on their behalf.
This is a genuine build, with real backing, at a company with momentum and a defined path ahead. We have done the diligence on this search ourselves, and the fundamentals are as strong as the ambition. The sector, the sponsor, and the finer details are specifics we will walk you through directly once our client has given us the consent to share them.
WhatYou Would Be Doing in Your Role
This role sits at the nucleus of how the company plans, decides, and reports on its own performance. When the CFO, the executive team, or the sponsor needs to understand where the business is heading, you are the person who tells them, and the one they trust to be right.
In practice, that means:
- Owning the planning cycle end to end: the annual plan, the long-range plan, and the forecast the business is actually managed against
- Building models that hold up under scrutiny, so leadership can make decisions on them with confidence rather than second-guessing the numbers
- Preparing board and ELT reporting that tells the story clearly
- Working through margin, pricing, cash, and unit economics
- Running the scenarios before capital is committed
- Partnering closely with the operators
- Supporting acquisitions and integration as the company grows, and helping build the systems and team to keep pace with it
- Substantial FP&A leadership experience, ideally within a private equity-backed or comparably fast-moving environment
- Strong ELT and board relationship management
- The instincts of an owner/partner to the CEO and CFO. Someone who takes the problem off other people's desks, challenges an answer when it is wrong, and wants their fingerprints on the outcome
- A track record of building rather than maintaining. You have stood functions up from the ground and do not need a large team around you to deliver
- Command of the tools these companies run on: a modern ERP being able to pull data and work with the technology team to ensure data mapping and reporting are telling the story, a capable planning platform, and the BI and modeling strength to support them.
- SME on Excel, AI tools
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with CPA, MBA, or comparable credentials preferred
You will have the attention of the board and the sponsor from the outset and a direct line to the CEO and CFO. For a leader who has been waiting for a seat where the work genuinely matters, the upside is real; this warrants a conversation.
