Job Description
The Analyst, M&A and Strategy will support the evaluation and execution of inorganic growth strategies and opportunities, including acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and other strategic initiatives. Will report directly to the Director, M&A and Strategy and have a high-level of interaction with senior leadership across the firm.
This role provides exposure to senior leadership, board-level decision-making, and key complex strategic initiatives at a growing alternative asset management platform. It is well-suited for a high-performing banking analyst seeking a long-term, corporate strategic role within the alternatives industry.
Primary Responsibilities
- Build and maintain complex financial models related to acquisition targets and internal business planning
- Analyze transaction structures, valuation drivers, earnouts, and financing considerations
- Produce transaction financial and valuation analyses including accretion / dilution, IRR, public and private market comparables, etc.
- Support due diligence by synthesizing financial, operational, and market data into actionable insights
M&A and Strategic Support
- Support evaluation and execution of M&A transactions and strategic partnerships
- Prepare deal committee and board materials for potential transactions
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external advisors
- Assist in integration efforts post-announcement including the project management of integration work streams across key functional areas
Valuation & Market Analysis
- Perform peer valuation and comp. set analysis across other public asset managers
- Analyze trading multiples, precedent transactions, and other market data points
- Track peer disclosures, earnings, and investor day materials to inform public shareholder strategy, as well as other private market transactions in the asset management space
- Maintain an internal CRM of the M&A pipeline and target lists
- Draft high-quality presentations for senior management and board meetings that clearly articulate complex topics, analysis and conclusions ensuring materials are analytically rigorous and executive-ready
- Any additional responsibilities or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in:
- Investment banking (Financial Institutions Group, Asset Management, M&A, Leveraged Finance or similar) and/or Corporate Development (financial institution preferred)
- Demonstrated interest in alternative asset management and private markets
- Demonstrated expertise in financial modeling and valuation
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Familiarity with financial databases (e.g., CapitalIQ, Pitch Book, etc.)
- Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting concepts
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce investor‑grade materials.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfort working with senior leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Willingness to work extended hours.
- Ability to travel (approx. 10-15%).
