Tax Associate

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Tax Associate to lead and oversee tax functions related to our real estate investments and operating entities. This individual will play a key role in managing tax compliance, developing tax strategies, and supporting financial reporting initiatives. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of U.S. tax laws, particularly as they relate to real estate, and experience managing both internal processes and external advisors.

Position

Responsibilities
  • Manage the preparation and filing of all federal, state, and local income tax returns, including those related to complex real estate structures.
  • Lead the development and execution of strategic tax planning initiatives to optimize tax positions and enhance after-tax returns.
  • Supervise external resources, ensuring the timely and accurate completion of tax filings and deliverables.
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of tax laws and regulations to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provisions in accordance with GAAP and relevant reporting requirements.
  • Manage all tax audits and coordinate responses with external advisors and legal counsel, representing the company before tax authorities when necessary.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in tax legislation and policy, assessing the impact on company operations and providing proactive guidance to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, legal, and investment teams to support business initiatives and ensure compliance.
Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of progressive U.S. tax experience, preferably with a focus on real estate tax strategy and compliance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or Master of Taxation is strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax codes, tax structuring, and partnership taxation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage teams, and interact with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
