POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the property (or properties) to ensure accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial management. This role manages accounting, budgeting, reporting, and financial planning, providing leadership and guidance to the finance team while supporting property and corporate objectives. The Director of Finance works closely with executive leadership, department heads, and corporate teams to maximize financial performance and maintain Coury Hospitality's standards of accountability, accuracy, and operational excellence.

PRIMARY

JOB DUTIES:

  • Develop and oversee the property's (or portfolio's) financial strategy in alignment with corporate goals.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership for strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, analysis, and forecasting.
  • Oversee all accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, corporate policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Lead the budgeting process, coordinating with department heads to develop realistic and achievable budgets.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
  • Develop forecasts, projections, and financial models to support operational and strategic planning.
  • Manage cash flow, capital expenditures, and liquidity to support operational needs.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Monitor and approve financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop finance staff including accountants and financial analysts.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and professional development within the finance team.
  • Coordinate training and performance evaluations for finance personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as corporate policies.
  • Oversee audits and coordinate with internal and external auditors.
  • Monitor financial risk and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with Operations, Rooms, Food & Beverage, Sales & Marketing, and other departments to provide financial guidance.
  • Assist in evaluating financial impact of operational decisions and capital projects.
  • Support executive leadership in decision-making with accurate, actionable financial information.

Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the manager. Furthermore, tasks and responsibilities may be added or revised based on the volume of business and the need for the work to be completed at the present time.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Bachelor's degree in accounting , Finance, or related field; CPA or advanced degree preferred.

7-10 years of progressive experience in hospitality or multi-unit finance leadership.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and budgeting.

Experience managing finance teams and leading audits.

Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to sit, stand, or walk as needed for office and operational tasks.

Ability to work extended hours during peak reporting or audit periods.
