Digital Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: DLR) is looking to add a Tax Manager
- Strategic Private Capital to its global tax team. This role will support the tax reporting, REIT compliance and transaction needs of strategic private capital structures, including joint ventures, managed investment vehicles and their investors. The position will partner closely with Accounting, Finance, Legal, Treasury, business teams and external advisors to deliver accurate tax reporting, maintain compliance and support transactions throughout the investment life cycle.

Tax Manager, Strategic Private Capital
Location:
Dallas, TX (Hybrid)
- Manage tax return filings for applicable entities, including coordinating with compliance advisors and internal Accounting and Finance teams to provide requested information on a timely basis and reviewing returns for completeness and accuracy.
- Manage annual investor tax reporting and interim taxable income projections, including relevant disclosures for certain investors, such as unrelated business taxable income (UBTI) for tax-exempt investors and Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (FIRPTA) considerations for non-U.S. investors.
- Track investors' tax basis, including Section 743(b) adjustments and built-in gain (BIG) associated with contributed assets; review taxable income allocations; and maintain tax-basis and Section 704(b) capital accounts.
- Manage investor distributions and related U.S. federal, state and local, and offshore tax withholding obligations.
- Manage quarterly estimated tax payments for tax-paying entities within the structure.
- Compute and review income tax provisions and accruals for corporate entities within the structure.
- Help ensure subsidiary REITs operate in a REIT-compliant manner, including interim review of new service offerings and contracts, restructuring transactions and hedging transactions.
- Manage quarterly REIT asset testing, annual income testing and distribution analyses.
- Manage tax reporting obligations for preferred and common shareholders, including Form 1099 reporting.
- Maintain the annual shareholder demand letter process and supporting documentation.
- Support tax structuring for acquisitions, dispositions, investor exit strategies, restructurings of existing investments and Section 1031 exchange transactions.
- Partner with Legal on entity classification and tax elections, including taxable REIT subsidiary (TRS) and check-the-box elections.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external advisors to implement agreed tax structures and support post-closing tax integration and compliance.
To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring visa transfer or sponsorship. In addition, you will have:
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance or a related field.
- At least 5 years of partnership tax experience gained through public accounting, law and/or industry roles.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. corporate and partnership taxation, with a focus on the real estate industry.
- Working knowledge of and experience with real estate investment trusts (REITs).
- Experience coordinating tax compliance and investor reporting across multiple entities and stakeholders.
- The ability to translate complex tax concepts into clear business implications and collaborate with non-tax teams to implement initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
