If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team as an Accounting Technician in the Budget Section, Administration Division, that is responsible for assisting the United States Attorney's Office, Northern District of Texas personnel.

• Prepares and analyzes detailed and extensive reports on financial activities.
• Assists in preparing modifications to obligations and subsequent entry to the Financial Management Information System (FMIS)
• Receives, reviews and processes fund commitments and disbursements for the District.
• Researches unusual transactions relation to expenses for litigation of complex issues to ensure proper classification.
• Performs account examinations for transactions requiring unusual adjustments.
• Verifies input to general ledger for accuracy and compliance to intent of obligations.
• Processes bills for payment.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

To qualify for the position of Accounting Technician (OA), at GS-0525-8, you must meet the qualification requirements listed below.

To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors
. (A typing test may later be required.)

GS-8: To be eligible at the GS-8 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level.

Specialized experience is defined as experience using financial management information systems to enter, extract and monitor budgetary data;
Processing bills for payment; verifying validity of invoices and requests payment; and verifying general ledgers for accuracy and compliance.
