Job Summary
The Emergency Preparedness Project Coordinator supports the Aviation Emergency Planning and Preparedness Program by managing critical projects to continuously enhance the airport's emergency readiness and public safety profile. This role involves developing and maintaining emergency response and contingency plans, conducting risk assessments, managing emergency technology and equipment, coordinating incident response, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The Coordinator also engages in public education, community outreach, and fostering situational awareness among internal and external stakeholders.
With a dual focus on aviation operations and emergency preparedness, this role demands strong project management skills and a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Essential Job Functions
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of principles of emergency management within the aviation industry.
- Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and mitigation strategies.
- Knowledge of FAA regulations (Part 139) and TSA regulations relevant to airport operations.
- Knowledge of technology/equipment supply chain logistics management.
- Knowledge of public communication strategies and outreach techniques.
- Skilled in writing and editing emergency plans, reports, and training materials.
- Skilled in facilitating cross-functional stakeholder engagement and inter-agency coordination.
- Skilled in using emergency management software and tools for planning and response.
- Skilled in conducting effective, public-facing training sessions and public education programs.
- Skilled in managing multiple projects simultaneously with a focus on detail and deadlines.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and develop actionable solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
- Ability to work under pressure during emergency situations while maintaining composure and clarity.
- Ability to adapt to evolving priorities and work independently or in a team environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency, Disaster, and/or Crisis Management Aviation/Airline Management Project Management.
Experience:
- Four (4) years' experience in one or more of the following categories:
Emergency, Disaster, and/or Crisis Management Aviation/Airline Management.
Equivalences:
- High school diploma or GED plus eight (8) years of required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
- Associate's Degree in any field plus six (6) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
- Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in a non-specified field plus six (6) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
- Master's Degree in a specified field plus two (2) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
License/
