Government Affairs Associate

Basic Function: HF Sinclair's Government Affairs Associate partners with marketing, renewables, political, and research functions regarding Governmental Affairs. Exposure to many segments of the company and meetings with key lawmakers.

Job Duties:

• Provides key customer appropriate updates and participates in industry groups
• Streamlines the management of political contributions through the DINO PAC
• Participates in the development of budget and process for political contributions, participate in DINO PAC board discussions
• Researches, analyzes, and evaluates legislative and regulatory developments; assesses potential impacts to company operations and business objectives, and prepares briefing materials and recommendations for leadership decision-making
• Maintains and administers the DINO PAC's charitable giving match program
• Participates in industry events on an as needed basis
• Builds relationships with key government officials with the support of VP Government Affairs
• Assists Government Affairs team with administrative tasks
• Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion

Experience:

A minimum of three years' industry and specialty related experience is required. Education Level: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in scientific discipline, Government, Public Policy, Law, Communications, or a related field, is required. Preferred Educational Level: An MBA or equivalent experience in government affairs.

Required Skills:

Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills; basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications; strong legislative competency as well as strong negotiating and influencing skills. Analytically strong with attention to details. In depth knowledge of legislative data requirements, programs and policies. Thorough understanding of the legislative process, including an understanding of the roles and decision points in Congress and Federal regulatory agencies.

Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication. Advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform complex mathematical calculations. Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

Work Conditions:
Office based with up to 25% travel by land and air required. Subject to all weather and varying road conditions.

Physical Requirements:

Job conditions require sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise finger and hand movements, reaching or grasping, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential, valid State driver's license and proof of insurance required, and perceiving color differences. Job conditions may require standing and walking.
